Phones with today's HarmonyOS are only sold in China. In Europe you can use HarmonyOS on Huawei watches and some tablets, and Huawei says international expansion will come "step by step".

Why don't European Huawei phones run HarmonyOS?
Today's HarmonyOS depends on an ecosystem of apps and services built for China: payments, maps, messaging, banking and content. Outside China that catalogue does not exist yet and, without the Android layer, users could not install local apps. That is why international models, such as the Pura 90 series Huawei launched outside China in July 2026, ship with EMUI, Huawei's layer on top of Android.
Will HarmonyOS come to Europe?
In October 2026 Richard Yu, head of Huawei's consumer business, confirmed that the company is still working to bring HarmonyOS to other markets, but "slowly, step by step", with no timetable or countries. The main challenge is attracting local developers: without banking, transport or government apps, a phone is not practical.
What if I import a Chinese phone?
Before you buy, bear in mind
- The interface, assistant and store are designed for China; some features need a Chinese account and phone number.
- You will not be able to install your bank's app or local services unless they have a HarmonyOS version.
- A European warranty does not cover an imported product, and network bands may not match your carrier.
